Esta señal pertenece a la categoría restrictivas.
Se utiliza en aquellos lugares donde no se permita el estacionamiento y aplica para el tramo carretero o de vialidad urbana donde se ubica la señal. En áreas urbanas aplicará únicamente para el tramo comprendido entre dos esquinas.
En un tablero adicional se pueden indicar las características de la restricción al estacionamiento como son: horarios, lugares, fechas, sanciones, motivos y excepciones tales como: MÁS DE UNA HORA, DE 8 A 21 h, PRINCIPIA, TERMINA, DÍAS HÁBILES, COCHERA EN SERVICIO, HIDRANTE, EXCEPTO AMBULANCIAS, EXCEPTO DOMINGOS, entre otros.
