Esta señal se utiliza para indicar a los conductores que los vehículos que circulan en sentido opuesto tienen prioridad.
Se instala en puentes estrechos, angostamientos de calzada, entre otros lugares.
En general se usa con la leyenda "PREFERENCIA AL SENTIDO CONTRARIO".
En caminos de montaña con calzadas angostas se puede usar con la leyenda "PREFERENCIA AL TRANSITO QUE SUBE", para asignar el derecho preferente de vía a los vehículos que suben.
