Esta señal se usa para establecer la velocidad mínima de circulación en una vía e impedir que se conduzca un vehículo a una velocidad tan baja que entorpezca el desplazamiento de otros, generando condiciones de riesgo, como ocurre en autopistas, autovías, puentes largos y túneles.
Debe complementarse siempre con la leyenda "MINIMA".
